Quite aside from what Eric Shmidt says or doesn't say, if Chrome is any indication of Google's competenance, MS does indeed have something to worry about.
I was not impressed with Chrome OS, when it was in beta. I believe last year?
Now I don't know if they changed a lot since then..but when I played with the OS it was boring.
I don't see people rushing to get this Cloud based OS...just yet..
and I agree that Eric Shmidt is jealous of Windows 7

I get it. They want to build an OS that isn't customizable. Sounds like a personal problem to me, which is anti-people.
If Eric's time is so valuable he could save some by avoiding the trash talk/reprogramming and use that time and energy to promote/better his own product.
I don't think any company that condones snooping on users to genereate ad revenue should be blasting anyone
According to this article Google will not gather WiFi information using their Street View cars.

Instead they will use YOUR phone.

"Google intends to rely on its users’ handsets to collect the information on the location of WiFi networks that it needs for its location-based services database," the report continues. "The improvements in smartphone technology in the past few years have allowed Google to obtain the data it needs for this purpose from the handsets themselves."
Won't be buying anything from Google.
