No one ever listens when you caution about "leaving it out there"! I can wait until tuesday here without even noticing the two days time in order download direct from an MS page. "SAFE and SECURE"!
Safe and secure I understand, being cautious is an understatement for me.
    Leaving it out there..

Where does it say it's going to be released from MS in 2 days on Tuesday? I didn't see that anywhere.

If it doesn't come from Microsoft I don't want it. No Chinese torrents for me.

What would be "out in the wild" at this time would most likely be a modified IT developers early version modified and may contain some form of malware. When going through MS you are getting it direct from the original "genuine" source!

With the genuine item you benefit from actual support as well as the option to provide feedback and suggestions. When going to order a dinner at a fine restaurant do you want a good meal or "mystery meat"?(excluding vegatarians of course ) I prefer the real deal.

You'll be thinking twice about that one when things are not working and you are left wondering why.

Meanwhile to find out the latest info on the current status of SP1 we read:

On October 6, 2010, Softpedia reports that Microsoft released a Release Candidate Escrow of Windows 7 Service Pack 1 build "6.1.7601.17104" only available to Select Testers and close partners of Microsoft.[124]
Current official release of Service Pack 1 is slated for the first half of 2011, according to its website.[125]
