The watermark? Yes it's normal. Every tester has it. It means that you're currently evaluating SP1 Release Candidate which will expire on September 1, 2011. But it'll go off once you have installed the final SP1 which is set to be released sometime in Spring 2011.

Yes you can get rid of it by...

How To Remove Watermark From Windows 7 Builds [Both X86 & X64]

There's a tutorial on here but I couldn't find it for the life of me.

I'd just leave that watermark there. There's nothing wrong or embarrassing having it on your desktop anyway.

I also thought there was a tutorial here and am pretty sure that's where I got my info. I can't find it now either.

Yeah, Trillian (AIM/YIM/MSN/Facebook/Twitter) covers it up since I'm always on one of them.

You could also cover/hide it with Windows Desktop Gadgets.

Removing the watermark usually causes to many bad issues, so we didn't allow it.

I had a tough time too - can't do it with IE9, had to use FF - I love irony.
It is beyond ironic and I have the same issue with Silverlight.

I'm using Skydrive to store photos. I cannot keep Silverlight working on IE8 and have to keep re-installing it. Works beautifully and stays put on Chrome.
