Microsoft's Bing Overtakes Yahoo For Now, Report Says Quote: Microsoft's Bing, its new search engine, overtook Yahoo’s market share in its first days of release, according to a report by StatCounter. Microsoft has devoted between $80 million to $100 million in advertising Bing, according to reports, but time will tell whether it can retain its market share in the face of fierce competition from Google and Yahoo.
A report by StatCounter suggests that Microsoft's new search engine, Bing, has overtaken Yahoo’s U.S. market share a few days after its June 1 rollout.
The online traffic-analysis firm found that, on June 4, Bing had a 16.28 percent market share, ahead of Yahoo at 10.22 percent, but lagging far behind Google at 71.47 percent.
However................. Microsoft's Bing Overtakes Yahoo For Now, Report Says

I think bing is a lot better than people give it credit for.
It's my default and will stay that way, as i have always found what I'm searching for and with less clicks/refinements as google.
I hope people start to look past the name and look into the product, as this article shows is happening... for now | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Vostro 1000 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x86 CPU AMD Sempron 3600+ Graphics Card ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor Screen Resolution 1200 x 800 Mouse Logitech V320 Cordless Optical Mouse Hard Drives WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB (WD5000BEVT) |

I liked the concept overall, I like the idea of a more useful and even a blinged search engine. But it has to still be fast, a couple of little things really kill it for me.
1) In image search, resting your mouse over an image causes it to baloon up blocking other images. I HATE that kind of thing. now I have to purposely move my mouse carefully off to the scroll bar to be able to scroll through the images witout having them constantly baloon up every time I stop moving the scroll wheel on the mouse.
2) If you load a page with the image into the search engine itself (something I really don't like all by itself but is the default behavior) that web page and IE slow to a CRAWL. Not sure whats going on, but those two things make the image search much less useful and downright irritating.
Otherwise still giving it a chance for a few days... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Scratch built OS Windows 7 x64 Ultimate CPU i7 960 Motherboard Asus P6X58D Memory 12 Gig Corsair Dominator Graphics Card Nvidia 480 Sound Card Maudio Delta 44 + breakout box Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp U2410 24in and Samsung 21 dual monitors Screen Resolution 1920x1200 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitech G15 + N52 game pad Mouse Logitech MX518 PSU Corasair TX850 Case Cooler Master HAF Cooling Corsair H50 Hard Drives Primary: Intel X-25M G2 160G SSD

I've just been studying our stats, and although Live & MSN only accounted for less than 5% of search engine traffic for our sites, the traffic from bing is less than 0.5%
From my prospective as a site owner/administrator, bing is a fail as I see no point in optimizing the site for better results in bing (although there is no real info on how to do this yet) at the risk of messing up google optimization. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number doofenshmirtz evil incorporated OS Windows 8 Pro CPU Intel Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition Motherboard ASRock X79 EXTREME11 Memory 32GB (8x4GB) Corsair DDR3 Dominator Platinum Graphics Card 2x 3GB EVGA GTX 660 Ti Superclocked+ Sound Card Creative Monitor(s) Displays 3 x27" Dell & 2 x 23" Dell Screen Resolution 3 @ 2560x1440 & 2 @ 1920x1080 Keyboard Microsoft Ergononic 7000 Mouse Logitech Performance MX PSU 1500W ThermalTake Toughpower Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Cooling Antec Kúhler H2O 620 CPU Watercooler Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 Series, 2.5" SSD, SATA III

i dont mind bing, though i would probably stick to google for searching. very used to the way that google's pagerank and search terms work.
the one area where bing shines - video searches. press video in top tab, search for what ever you want, and hovering over the thumbnails plays the video. awesome. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Inspiron 1545 OS Windows 7 build 7100 x86 CPU Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1GHz Motherboard GM45 chipset Memory 3GB Graphics Card Intel(TM) Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD Sound Card Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays 15.6" WLED 720p Screen Resolution 1366x768 Hard Drives 320GB 5400rpm hard drive |

It doesn't play the whole video unless it's extremely short. Anything over a couple of minutes gives a preview (small clip) of two or three parts of the video. The way they make the clips fade into each other transitions nicely, though. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Build 7127 (64-bit) Microsoft's Bing Overtakes Yahoo For Now, Report Says problems?
