Good on ya, Microsoft!
More -Microsoft Corp. announced today the names of the six organizations that will receive the $8 million grants in cash and software, which will help veterans and their spouses get the education, the job training and the placement programs that will develop the skills they need to succeed in finding a job.
Even if, despite the economical crisis, the unemployment rate has stabilized, the situation is a bit different for veterans: last month, the unemployment rate among Iraq and Afghanistan veterans rose to 10.6% (compared to 8.8 for civilians), according to data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Over the past six months, there has been a gap forming between unemployment rates of veterans and civilians, so to help built a bridge, Microsoft is awarding $2 million in cash and $6 million in software and information technology skills training courses, to helps veterans and their spouses make a successful transition to the civilian life.

Jan,
That is great news!
Just hope the vet's that need the $$$$ get it and not have a huge % go for administrators of it.
That's very cool...our vet's can always use this!
You wouldnt see google doing anything like this. They dont even pay all their taxes... which is actually going against our vets.
Maybe google should pay out part of that 30 billion they that shoulda paid in taxes over the last 3 years to donate for something...
Pity we don't have a big company like that to look after our soldiers. They have to rely on the pitance that the British public affords them...
I have to give MS a big kudos on this one. Nice move and no doubt will be much appreciated by those soldiers it helps. Thank You! Now if some other big companies can also step up to the plate...
Nice to see them on the receiving end after giving so much.
Great they did this!!!
Now only if Microsoft could force the US to have a actually not failing health-care system....
