What and you thought the US government would stop at healthcare reform. Remember we can't be trusted to know whats best for us, we all need the government to tell us what to eat, drink and what and where to surf. Big government it's where the jobs are !

How sad... here in my country they don't still think about doing this nasty thing... but we have to avoid that to all costs...

people... our all govenments (in all world) are crazy megalomaniac whimps that think that killing and controlling people is the way to go... WE GOT to do something about it... Is not just about the internet, is about OUR LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's really sad that a country that has fought so hard for getting the great nation they have, is controlled by this kind of whimps...

    See ya!!!

I'm sorry, but do you really, honestly think that making health care available to more people at a more reasonable cost is comparable to reducing peoples rights? Name one way that health care reform has hurt you in any valid way (i.e. arguing that your taxes might go up is not a valod argument, but if the legislation some how caused you to lose your health care plan, that would be valid).

A bit more on topic...I fully support copyright laws, but I can see how this could cause a multitude of problems. For example, youtube, dispite their best efforts, host a lot of copyrighted material that has not been approved to be on there. What is to keep this new law from leading to youtube being taken down? Image hosting sites often have copyrighted pictures hosted on them. What's to stop those sites from being destroyed? I understand the intentions, but Hitler started WWII doing what he thought would be best for his nations people. We all saw how that worked out.

Freedom of speech is not the same thing as freedom to put software and music on the web for free download for all.

Most of the internetz is hosted in the US. This bill will have many many chilling effects on the rest of the world.... Europe will be the new haven for free speech. This really is 1984 revisited again.. Never thought the bastion of freedoms and free speech of the world would come down to this...

Can we all keep in mind that this bill still has, like, three or four more hurdles (that it most likely won't hop over) before it even reaches Obama's pen? This thing has only passed the Senate's Judiciary Committee, for heaven's sake.

This thread is mislabeled. The Senate did nothing. It was just one committee that approved the bill. It then needs to go to the full Senate to get discussed for a while, amended and then maybe brought to a vote. After that a similar bill needs to go through the same process in the House and if it passes both then it has to be signed by the President. This is just the first step by the liberal Senate and I don't look for it getting passed.

Petey7, As a licensed life and health broker I know something about what's happened and happening to our healthcare costs. But this isn't the place for this discussion that I'm more than happy to educate you on. I'll even listen to your side and maybe you can educate me as to how you state you know so much. Cheers and back to really volatile subjects like why someone with a i7 would consider going AMD.....stuff like that !

There are already laws in place to deal with those sites and copyright infringements. How many of those sites are fighting legal battles now? Or have been shut down or in the process?
