I think that every version of Windows that I have used, has it's pluses and minuses. I don't get too excited about what new version is on the horizon, because I'm sure that it is going to be a trade off between what I want, and what I get. Plus, it will take quite some time after paying for and installing it, before I know how I feel about it, and I really don't like having to relearn how to do something, simply because MS has deemed fit to reorganize and rearrange some operation to what they think is best for no other reason than to give the appearance of improvement.

It's kind of like shopping at WalMart, and each time I visit, they move products to new locations, because of their marketing schemes, rather than customer convenience. Unfortunately, the store that I usually shop at recently unwent a complete remodeling, which included a complete shuffling of departments, making what should have been a simple chore, a tedious hunt to find what I had in mind, and after a long scouring of what their inventory was, to find that they had dropped many items that I wanted, or reduced the size and raised the price.

I do not believe that computer users should be forced to buy another Windows version, once that they have bought the first. All improvements and updates should be given freely, just as regular updates are, and that the license to only have a specified time valid, like maybe 5 years, which would have to be renewed. Updates would be only for real improvements, not just for a prettier package to attract buyers.

I would have to agree, it's a business(ie profit) driven model based on corporate values.

As long as consumers keep paying they will keep charging, if we had more options the price would be more reasonable, it's not a competitive market and hasn't been since the beginning.

Not really. Regardless of how "idle" a mind might be, it is continually running itself on something, and unlike a computer, it can only be unplugged once...unless one counts the supernatural.
