I would have some very serious doubts that you don't have the RTM.

Imagine how tough it is to create a false RTM.

regardless of if it's real of fake,

it COULD be an old RTM.

i've downloaded and examined a beta update for win7 that is scheduled for SP2 and it says that it requires windows 7 SP1 and the build number for SP1 is 7601.17530

NOT 7601.17514, that is floating around now.

so i'm uneasy about this supposed Final SP1 build.

There is no such thing as Windows 7 SP2 beta even in testing, where do you get that from?

7601.17530 is a modified version of SP1 RTM

    7601.17514 is the final RTM

What is the actual update number KB......... etc.?

Edit: Are you talking about beta versions of IE9? If so then I wouldn't believe everything you read as it's only a beta. Also are you trying to install IE9 beta in Windows XP by any chance?

See Download details: Documentation for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 Release Candidate (KB976932) and click System Requirements.

I think perhaps you are misunderstanding what it's saying.
