"Zero Day", Novel by Mark Russinovich Anyone who has been "around" for a while has heard about Mark Russinovich and SysInternals. Via his first "tweet", Mark announced his soon-to-be-available novel, "Zero Day". Quote: An airliner’s controls abruptly fail mid-flight over the Atlantic. An oil tanker runs aground in Japan when its navigational system suddenly stops dead. Hospitals everywhere have to abandon their computer databases when patients die after being administered incorrect dosages of their medicine. In the Midwest, a nuclear power plant nearly becomes the next Chernobyl when its cooling systems malfunction. At first, these random computer failures seem like unrelated events. But Jeff Aiken, a former government analyst who quit in disgust after witnessing the gross errors that led up to 9/11, thinks otherwise. Jeff fears a more serious attack targeting the United States computer infrastructure is already under way. And as other menacing computer malfunctions pop up around the world, some with deadly results, he realizes that there isn’t much time if he hopes to prevent an international catastrophe. zerodaythebook.com | My System Specs |

True, there are probably some real threats. But there is also a lot of hype - especially in the US. Too many people see the world coming to an end. I would not think that Mark Russinovich is one of them. He will probably only point out the weak spots in our setups. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

Sounds like a good book to me. @panais, you can always get a copy from the public library if you don't want to buy your own copy. Me, I'd love an autographed copy. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 & Windows Vista Ultimate "Zero Day", Novel by Mark Russinovich problems? All times are GMT -5. The time now is 10:05 AM. | |
