Inside Windows 7 SP1, RTM or No RTM

    Posted: 18 Jan 2011

With Windows 7 SP1 RTM Build 7601.17514.101119-1850 leaked in the wild, I thought I’d remind you that the first upgrade for Windows 7 is not like previous Service Pack 1 releases.

Instead, SP1 for Windows 7 is just a minor upgrade, as Microsoft put it when it introduced its plans for the service pack with the world.

[ADMAK=1] And early adopters that have been testing Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 throughout the Beta and Release Candidate (RC) milestones, undoubtedly know that the software giant managed to live up to the promise to deliver almost nothing at all with the service pack.

Funny. But it's a testament to how solid 7 was when first released.

Agreed. I've been keeping up with my 7 updates since late 2009. Windows 7 has performed far above and beyond all my business and gaming needs. At this point, I see no need for a SP 1 at all.

When SP1 RC was released it included 625 updates, most of which are Hot Fixes which a lot of people don't have unless they were having a problem. I wouldn't call this a minor update. Probably cures possible problems we didn't know we had.

Same here pal, no sp1 for me, I'm as happy now as I was in the beta.
