Microsoft’s OfficeTalk twitter for businesses moves a step closer to reality
Microsoft’s OfficeTalk social-networking tool for businesses has moved a step closer to reality recently.
OfficeTalk is one of a number of projects currently run by
Microsoft’s Office Labs team. The social-networking tool started as a research project in March 2010 and Microsoft employees began dogfooding a test version in August. OfficeTalk is a cross between Twitter and Yammer that allows businesses to run their own private social-networking site internally.
OfficeTalk has been deployed internally at Microsoft and has seen over 10,000 visitors and hundreds of messages posted daily. Microsoft has made OfficeTalk available to a few customers for a small pilot test in 2010 and it appears the software giant is making plans to push the product forward.
