That sounds a bit strange, doesn't it, must be a advertising push for Sandy Bridge.
Hope to see more info on this soon.
Rumors already saying this means there is a delay of the 25nm G3's.

hehe by solid, do you mean Price Tag. one thing i do know for sure is i will never go back to Mechanical drive for my Os ever again :)

It will be great in a Month or two to see some tests on this next generation of SSD's. New controllers and Toggle-Mode NAND memory.

The new 25nm SSDs are being delayed.
This new Intel 510 may be a good option, as long as the I/O are actually higher than whats being reported.
They are having probles with the 25nm program/erase cycles.
With each nand size reduction the use cycles get cut in half.
It will be controlled by ECC ClearNAND or by the controller.

It's the 34nm MLC, with upgraded controller.
No word on the new 25nm SSDs.

Intel is getting ready to launch two new 34nm 2.5 SSD drives based on its latest 34nm process.
Codename Emcrest will convert to Intel 510 brand that will guarantee up to 450MB read and 300MB/s write speeds. Let’s not forget that these drives are SATA III 6Gb/s compatible. The specification promises up to 20K IOPs at 4KB read and 4K IOPs at 4KB write.
Intel plans to launch these drives in February and the bigger of two is Intel 510 250GB, which is going to sell for $579 at launch. The smaller one is Intel 510 120GB 34nm drive that will debut for $279 in February. The previous performance king, the X25-E with its 64GB storage and 250MB read and 170MB write, still sells for around €600.
If you are after performance and you can afford to buy an SSD drive that costs more than an average Joe's TV, you might want to mark February in your calendar.
Strange IOPs reported there, hopefully some clarification soon.
