If you have a Gigabyte Sandy Bridge motherboard, you can use the Gigabyte utility at this link to determine if you are or are not currently using the affected ports.
GIGABYTE 6 Series SATA Check Application
The best advice is to put hard drives on the unaffected ports and use the affected ports for DVD drives if at all possible. Then sit back and wait for 2 to 3 months until replacement boards hit the channel. In the meantime, decide if you want to exchange for an identical board with the replacement chipset or if you want a full refund and buy another brand/model.
Who knows, the Z68 chipset may be out by that time?
The only unresolved issues at this point appear to involve secondary details such as "can I cross ship", "will I have to pay any shipping charges", "since I have to remount my CPU, will I get some free Arctic Silver", etc. The exact details of what Intel will pay for are not yet known.
I rebuilt with an i-5 2500 a week ago and am having no issues.
