SourceMicrosoft has revealed that it plans to upgrade Internet Explorer 9 Release Candidate (RC) users to the final bits automatically when they are available later this year.
Speaking on Microsoft’s official Internet Explorer blog, head of Internet Explorer Dean Hachamovitch said the company will also upgrade existing beta users to the RC build. “We will automatically update IE9 beta users to the IE9 RC. After the final release, we will automatically update IE9 RC users to the final build,” said Hachamovitch.
Microsoft launched its final development milestone version of Internet Explorer 9 on February 10. Microsoft’s main change in Internet Explorer 9 RC is the addition of Tracking Protection. The new privacy feature allows consumers to address their concerns about being tracked on the web. Internet Explorer 9 RC offers users a new opt-in mechanism to identify and block many forms of undesired tracking such as cookies, web beacons, advertisements and trackers. Tracking protection involves lists that can be published online.
good news lets hope with the updates they dont start to slow it down
I thought I had seen it somewhere and stuck to my guns in one of the other IE9 threads, but was quickly outnumbered so I waited for a news source to pick it up
You are a legend IE9 - I said so and I'm the original and only teknobrain in here!
The RTW I have found out is "release to web" not bad going eh?
Now back on topic does the cookie blocking mean Google as well hope so because I've had a belly full of them especially after that youtube freaking cheek!!
Plus will this upgrade just do it or will it be something one has to manually do - sorry mate but I am still not that savvy in keeping up with you blokes!
The "cookie blocking" that you refer to I'm assuming means Tracking Protection. You can search it, and there are tons of articles, but unfortunately we can't discuss it here as it breaks rule 19.
As far as the upgrade, you should see it in WU and will either have to type in 'wup' into the start menu search to manually upgrade (maybe), or it'll upgrade itself as part of an automatic update (what it sounds like it'll be)
Also, don't worry about not keeping up, everyone has been where you are at and has just added to their knowledge
As part of that learning you are right that RTW means 'release to web', but it can also mean 'release to windows'
See you around :)
Thanks IE9 I'll research that and sorry to all you other fellows for being patient with me too!
