Can't wait for that, i'm sick of 20MB/s on my current USB HD. Would mean new hardware but it'll be worth it
more..Following the delivery of final specifications and first host controller samples, it appears that the SuperSpeed Universal Serial Bus standard, better known as USB 3.0, is about ready for a commercial rollout.

I'm going to hold out on upgrading my motherboard until they also relaunch the Rampage II Extreme with Sata 6Gbp/S,USB 3.0, and PCI Express 3.0.
I hope it will come out as PCI Express card too 'cause I don't want to change my m'board nowadays.
Do U think if i connect a USB2.0 HDD to the USB3.0 port it will be faster? Or both device has to be 3.0?
Damn and i thought my USB stick getting up to 70MBps was fast. It's going to be around 400MBps?

From what I read both have to be 3.0 (Gotta make money by making you re-buy everything) but 3.0 is still backward compatible so you can plug it in to a 3.0 port and it will work plus the plugs are different. The only plus I can think of is the 3.0 might be a little better at handling the legacy devices.

Doubtful. Both devices need to be 3.0 to take advantage of it...
The speed of the controller is 400 Mbps, but the speed of devices are a whole different story. Speaking of which, 70 MBps is faster than the current USB 2.0 standard :) Very few USB sticks hit 20 MBps, most are in the lower numbers. Similarly even if the guys External Hard Drive above was USB 3.0, more than likely he wouldn't have a noticeable performance increase due to the fact that most hard drives don't exceed the current USB 2.0 speeds.
Don't get me wrong, I want them to :) I think this is an awesome improvement, especially the possibility of power increase, I love the idea of USB devices not needing external power.
