Microsoft's Gazelle browser takes a radical path Microsoft's Gazelle browser takes a radical path
Many people think that the browser is starting to replace the operating system as the center of the personal computer.
Naturally, the view that Windows is on a path to irrelevance is not one generally espoused by Microsoft. That said, at least some inside Redmond's walls argue that the Web browser needs to start acting more like an operating system.
"Some of today's browser policies are not very safe," says Microsoft researcher Helen Wang. Interesting... I heard that Google OS is also browser based as in it uses a browser to control applications and stuff. I hope that Gazelle will be a replacement for IE8. And hopefully it will be faster. If security takes a leap forward through this piece of innovation, then that's great news. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Apple Inc. The Gazelle project isn't a browser based OS. It is a browser using an OS implementation, meaning each session, tab, whatever would run in it's own separate world and when one thing is broken it doesn't affect everything else etc... Again it isn't a browser based OS...
