Is it true about the 30 day limit? I also heard it is hard to uninstall.

I don't know about the limit (though I would not think so), but it IS very hard to uninstall. Make sure you put it on a system that you will either cleanse soon, or a separate HDD, and one without office already installed.

When you register, it asks for street address and phone number. Should I bother putting in that stuff or just download it from a torrent?

I'm guessing v14.0.4302.1000 x64 is the latest version.

Is it still taking an ungodly amount of hard drive space to install word and excel and powerpoint?

I didn't get any address or such demand on a fresh win7 installation? The 30 days is true, but it just throws up a nag screen and continues normal function.

Not really significant amount of space. The upgrade from 2007 is definitely worth it. The speed is incomparable.
