people make no sense and you should be able to read BS when it comes along. 16386 is not what people are getting on oct 22. RTM 16385 is what EVERYONE will get in the store on october 22.

You realize RTM is what is being pressed on to dvds. Is some magic fairy going to wave her wand on october 21st on every copy of win7 to add those extras little features and change the build to 16386?

You have to ask yourself "why". Why would they give a different build to OEMs than they are providing to Software Assurance customers (Volume Licences), MSDN, TechNet, and the general public.

I think basically people have forgotten what the letters RTM actually stand for. Release To Manufacturing is just that. It is the FINAL build that will be made public. It is the SUPPORTED build once it becomes available (earliest is Aug. 6... I'm guessing OEM-sourced builds will not appear on shop-bought PC's until very-late September at the earliest).

The idea that someone - anyone - is just going to build for builds sake or add new sounds, icons, application (seriously?!!) is just a little crazy. If you've spent any time at all on this roller coaster ride you'll ALL realise that what we've been using since 7100+ is set in stone. Bug fixes, minor UI fixes... these have been the only changes we've seen. Every prior claim that something big was coming has proved to be false.

Anyway, I'm happy to wait until August 6th and get my MSDN copy.

    :)
