Firefox, Recipe for Failure?

Its just a way to keep off people from using old versions, Mozilla is adopting the chrome-way which is itself good

I was on 3.6.18 till last night when an automatic update put me to 4.0.1. For me it is just a bit of a learning curve and it is still probably better than IE9.

when I got my laptop, the vendor had installed FF 3.8.x for me, later when I came back home and connected it to my LAN it upgraded to 4.0.1, - the add ons which I used in 3.8.x were working good for me so no complaints. Other than the factor some times my task bar shakes as if it got an earth quake (may be due to excessive windows open heh!) I never had this prob in XP+FF, I came across this only on w7+FF4.0.1

now, 5 series is released, I would like to take that but my required addons might not be working or at least FF would state that and I don't know how to enable a non-working one at least to test tht.

anyways, 3.6 is holding out - it's configured perfectly for me and i love my chromifox theme.

I think it is great and a step in the right direction. I have been running nightly builds for quite some time and they have been really solid - I haven't had any issues. Gets us features and fixes faster. Lets keep it moving forward and fix any serious issues as quickly as possible.

I fully understand what they're doing, in the right context, it's important, and obviously brilliant.

A year from now these changes will begin to produce the more obvious results. This update is no different, technically, from a x.1 update/upgrade, therefor, it doesn't matter. It's only a number.

At least, this is how I see it.


Although, while they have been somewhat open, I think they should be more forward, and not fear MS and Google catching on, because, it will happen, no matter what they do. But maybe the recent trend of Chrome adoption going through the roof has something to do with Mozilla being tight lipped about their onward strategies.

I tend to agree with the article, and I'm just a home user.

Honestly don't mind nor care, just another update.

If you Google this story by entering "Firefox Stops Security Support for 4" you get a lot of links but none of them are Mozilla links.

I am using 5.0, however I don't believe this story. There is no link in the story to a PR or Mozilla blog stating what the author said.

Until I see a Mozilla link on this I will continue to think that the story is wrong.

Anyone got that link?
