Firefox 8 for Windows x64: Has 64-bit browsing finally come of age?

Quote:
Over the last couple of weeks, Mozilla has finally stepped up its 64-bit testing process. There are now five slaves dedicated to building Firefox for Windows x64, which means that from Firefox 8 and onwards, you’ll be able to pick up 64-bit builds that are functionally identical to its 32-bit cousins but operating in native 64-bit CPU and memory space.

Wait what? Aren't we just in Firefox 5 right now? I'm not a Firefox fan (anymore) so i'm not updated with this.

The 64-bit build was supposed to come with the release of FF5 but they kept delaying it

x64 Nightlies are pretty stable IMHO, and very usable.

Within theory great news. But FF4 (and 5) has some memory leak issues. Not sure I want it to be able to leak into all of my available RAM to be honest.

I'm still going to use the Nightly x64 build when this comes out. The Nightly build works perfectly fine, even though it's theoretically supposed to be less stable.

Same as Chrome dev is supposed to be less stable than the Stable version, except the fact that Chrome dev is pretty stable.
