So all languages are on the same disc... That must take some space on the DVD

I dont understand why it takes two weeks to get it posted to technet. One my company release a product it is availible through our site in a matter of days. Why is there such a long wait?

And here is the "official" link from Microsoft Windows 7 Has Been Released to Manufacturing - Windows 7 Team Blog - The Windows Blog .

Build has been confirmed as 16385.

What I don't understand is why Gold Partners have to wait until August 16th?

They did two weeks for Vista, too.

Suppose there could be something with OEM's, etc., giving it a once over for a couple weeks to ensure it's really okay. Once it hits places like Technet it becomes pretty broadly officially "out there" and it gets a lot tougher to get it back and make adjustments if necessary.

I would assume there is an agreement with OEM's and microsoft for the 2 week delay because as you said it was the same thing with vista. The oem's dont give a once over. win7 is done as far as release goes there will be no last minute changes before it hits retail. Thats what the intense sign off period is.
