SATA + PCI Express = SATA Express

Quote:
If you're talking music, mashups are so, like, 2005. To be honest, we never really got into mixing Disturbed with the Backstreet Boys to begin with. But when you start talking data transfer specification mashups our ears start to perk up. Our sonic receptors are standing at full attention today, after the Serial ATA International Organization announced the development of a new specification that combines the SATA infrastructure with the PCIe interface to form a Voltron-like super-spec.

except external drive & storage... I don't see the use of such a port. I mean, look, printers, keyboards, mice, scanners, webcams, capture cards, USB Headset and speakers, etc don't see any improvement on anything higher than USB 2. I mean, come on, speed's all great but not everything needs it!

Looks good, but until the prices of SSDS come down, I won't have any need for this.

All it is, is a raid card that will be add-on to a motherbaord. That what I get from what I have read. It will be nice but without SSD with the kinds of speeds that they are talking about to use it the product is worthless.

SSDs will need the speed soon enough, but how long before 8Gbps and 16Gbps speeds aren't enough?
