i love playing games on 7 - i had some initial punkbuster issues, but quickly and easily sorted them (bought some new hacks lol) - some people seem to have steam issues, but no probs here!

have installed and regularly play: bf2, fallout 3, empire total war, secret of monkey island, arma 2 demo, medal of honour airborne, crysis warhead, defcon, dawn of war 2, minesweeper

Works well for me. Seems "smoother" play and I think that may be due having 64 bit now with 8b of memory much of which operates as STANDBY memory.

One thing I have noticed that is a plus, I can ALT-TAB back to the desktop, afjust my mouse and/or gamepad settings and ALT-TAB back into the game - MOST of the time.
