Windows 7: Steve Jobs has died.

I don't think there's anyone who wasn't shocked by his death. The b*****d that I am, I started laughing at my own dramatic reaction.
It's always sad to see people loosing the battle of life, of course. Not that this is something to sob over, or feel bad. People die all the time. As much of a man as he was, he deserves nothing but respect for the work he has done, whether we liked it or not. Though I can't help but see the so called "idol worshiping" all over the net this morning, which disgusts me.

Dedicated to Steve:

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Your place in history is assured.

There is so much negative news - every day, all day -- all over the world. I think that paying supreme respect to one of the great innovators of our time, including all of the "idol worshipping" is a welcome change from the horrible news of all of the international wars, power struggles, political bickering, criminal activities, failing economies, starving people, natural catastrophes, and on and on.

I was not an Apple user, but I can certainly appreciate the contribution of a genius and enterprise leader like Steve Jobs. R.I.P.

Somehow, I can't. The "Windows wouldn't be the same if it wasn't for Jobs" argument relates to things back before my time and I wasn't "there" to witness any of it. All we kids have are words and statements and other people's opinions. Had I been interested that much in computers back then (though I wasn't even born back when it all started) I could say that Jobs was the one who changed my life. But I can't, and I certainly won't fake it.

Perhaps I'm just taking things for granted and enjoying that which is closer to me and impacts me a lot more than the fact that some "genius" and "enterprise leader" built/imagined/re-imagined some stuff I never use or am not interested in. Therefore, on my part, he deserves only respect for living the life the way he did, and condolences for the way he died, not appreciation, fanboyism, idol worshiping or anything else for what he's done. But that's just me.

One thing that all Windows users should remember is that the Windows GUI was first developed in the 70's at Xerox PARC and that while that was never successfully exploited commercially by Xerox Apple was the company that first did so and Microsoft trailed along a poor second (or maybe third if you include IBM's OS/2).

The only thing I never understood was why Apple never offered the OS ported for PC-style architecture as a stand-alone project. Sell the systems as the best platform for the job, but offer some of us that couldn't afford a full blown Mac a chance to, at least, LIKE the OS.

I never owned an Apple device; not because it was inferior, but because I never had that disposable cash...

I guess that's why I work for a construction company. LOL

Re: Steve's passing, hey, he did some awesome things with it before he passed, and I guess that deserves alot of credit. I just wish I had 0.1% of his $$.
I'm off to check my family tree next.

RIP SJ

RIP Steve. Whether or not a person used his products, or approved of some of his business practices, Jobs' brilliance and passion for his work cannot be denied.

I haven't tried a Mac computer since the Apple IIe back in middle school, but I do quite enjoy my iPod Touch. I have four digital audio players right now, after having as many as seven at one point earlier this year.....the four I currently have are a Sansa Clip+ 8GB(running the excellent Rockbox firmware), a Sansa Clip Zip 8GB, an Apple iPod Touch 32GB, and a Microsoft Zune HD 64GB.

However, although I like all four, if I had to choose just one of them and sell off the rest, the Touch would be the keeper....it's the most versatile. For a long time I wouldn't buy an iPod because there was no customizable equalizer on them, just a few EQ presets.....with the advent of the Touch, however, now "there's an app for that".
