Windows 7: Bulldozer is out and it sucks

Hopefully all of this work out. I was hoping that AMD was going to do something big. We really need it.
Competion not only drives prices down, but keeps technology moving forward at a faster pace.

Theres quite a few wanting to build a new system and were waiting to see what Bulldozer looked like before starting. I am one of those.

So, Im now left with a decision. Intel or AMD.

x79 will likely be way to expensive.
Core i7 which really doesnt cost that much more than Bulldozer.
Core i5 which is cheaper than Bulldozer.

Or..
Bulldozer FX 8150.

But, looking at the facts, as they are now, it can not compete vs a i5 let alone a i7. And currently even has issues competeing againt its own predecessors.

So is the better choice to build Intel now for gauranted performance?
Or is the better choice to go with Bulldozer and hope that all software gets re-written to accomodate it, which may or may not help its performance and increasing it value?

To me, it seems to makes sense to stay with Intel ATM.
It has nothing to do with being a fanboy of either camp.
Its a simple of matter of getting the most for my money, right now.

Unless Im missing something big, looks like thats still the best choice.

AMD DID do something BIG ..its what people seem to have a hard time getting..

They were brave enough to go ahead with new technology knowing that it would need updated software to support it fully for any performance gains..

Technology needs to move forward, software needs to keep up with it..

Its not up to AMD to make the software, thats up to the programmers and such..all of them..

Im getting my FX-8150 to support AMD so that they can continue with their new Bulldozer CPU's and eventually software will catch up, hopefully its sooner rather than later though..

Also it would be nice if Intel didn't keep blocking AMD from getting software support for the Bulldozer, obviously a lot of AMD people are making the switch over this and Intel is making more money, I REFUSE to follow the bandwagon of lamers making the switch just because they don't understand the reason why Bulldozer is sucking atm..

Looking at how low AMD stock is going and how Bulldozer could set back the company in money sense 5 years. We could see what kills AMD. I know it hard to look at it that way but what if Bulldozer does not sell as many units that they wanted to by Q2 next year? I think in the next few weeks we will see major changes at AMD.

I hope that what has happened to AMD does not happen to their GPU's with the upcoming 7000 series. I wish ATI was still there own company............... but that is all in the past.

Honestly you can't say this will Bury AMD new type of technology what will happen to Intel if they can't run operations with new code-ing like the BD chip then people will say Intel failed , I think at this point nothing has failed they just need the right tools to show it off in the right way

Can't go around saying something is Botched when the real performance is being held back by Not having the real technology around that it is ment for

This thread is begining to be more of Fanboy Nonesene then understanding a Bigger picture sooner or later Companies have to find new designes to fit more power in and more gains it seems AMD has done that but in recent weeks there made to look more foolish then respected

I wanted to get Bulldozer but with all of the delays and the early reports I decided that I was beter off getting a Intel I7. I agree this is turning into "Fanboy Nonesene." It just worries me how AMD stock has fallen down below $5. At some point they have to do something or people will stop investing in them.

I just wish people could look at a report and know its fake. The early Bulldozer reports were full of fake information. This is like how Vista got its bad name...

I really think people should take a better look at what AMD is trying to do period

I care not to beat all other Pc's of the world nor will i ever get there

One thing is Money I don't have the fundage to even Get the best Pc parts to be the fastest in the world and with Techs that know way more then me it will never happen

I am what you call the average joe with a little know-how

With this new cpu is a not the normal heat sink it is a WATER COOLER that in itself is a plus i never ran anything like that or even tryed that alone has kinda sold me other then me buying my 990FX board

Im almost compelled to finish what i've started and Performance won't be tops but at the same time im not in competition with anyone i build rigs as a hobby and if i can grab all new hardware why not

I do plan on useing my pc more then 3 years before new upgrades so i am in cofidence AMD will have the issue licked long before then

If overall performance is your goal, I agree 100%.

You should always look at what a company is trying to do, but you have to be very aware of what they are actually pulling off. Many a wise investor has been conned into believing in a product that a company wants to make, but failure to actually create that dream leaves the investor empty handed.

In the end, it always comes down to budget. But considering that you need a $279 AMD processor to compete with the Intel Core i5 which is $219....the Intel is actually the cheaper option.

I wouldn't consider a water cooling setup the major selling point. I've never used a water cooler either, and never wanted to. Unless you are going to heavily overclock, water cooling just shouldn't be necessary.

Do keep in mind that they have been talking about Bulldozer now for 4 years and it took nearly 4 years before they even got the product to market.

I'll go out on a limb and say that a Core i5-2500k ($219) won't be a massive disappointment within 3 years.

Don't be mislead by AMD WATER COOLER offering. The Buldozer comes with a normal heatsink and fan and AMD will start selling a Water Cooler in the near future for around $100. I just installed a Antec Kuhler H2O 620 on my older PHII X4 955 and my new PHII X6 1000t to reduce the fan noise and it works great. I got a small reduction in CPU and MB temps and its a lot quieter. The MB temp went down due to all that CPU heat being vented directly out the case through the radiator. I have a new 990X AM3+ MB so if AMD does improve the Bulldozer line I have an easy upgrade path.
