After the Vista debacle I thought Microsoft would struggle to produce anything better than XP, but Windows 7 has done so, in my view.
Other than a recent hardware problem that has now been rectified I've had no problems with Windows 7 whatsoever.

XP is still my backup OS for in case an application absolutely refuses to run under Windows 7. Just because MS doesn't support it anymore doesn't mean I can't or won't won't use it. I used Windows 98 until late 2005, lol. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number iBuyPower Chimera X58 OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 CPU Intel Core i7 920 Motherboard Asus P6T Deluxe V2 Memory 12GB (2GB x6) Triple Channel DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB GDDR5 Sound Card Integrated Digital HD 7.1 Surround Sound Monitor(s) Displays 24.6-inch ASUS VW246H 20000:1 Contrast, 2 ms response time, Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Razer Lycosa Mouse iBuyPower Ergonomical Internet Mouse PSU NZXT 800W Gaming Series Case Guardian Inferno (Custom Painted NZXT Guardian 921) Cooling Thermaltake V1 Fan Cooling System OC Proof Hard Drives 1 TB 7200 RPM SATA II 3 GBps 16MB cache Internet Speed 11 MBps High-speed Cable |

I still have an XP partition for the same reason as you do.
I only have one program (a game) that won't run in Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit) or XP VMs.
Lets face it, XP is the most profitable and successful desktop OS ever released. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number n/a OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (64 bit), Windows XP SP3, Ubuntu 10.04 CPU AMD Phenom II x6 1055T, 2.8 GHz Motherboard ASRock 880GMH-LE/USB3 Memory 4 GB DDR3 1333 G-Skill Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT Sound Card Realtek?
