I love the exchange rate and customs charges lol. My 120gb corsair force 3 cost me £150, that's like $280! Was you could get half decent SSD's in the uk for £60 ($100)..

Where did you buy that dream drive?

Slap a TV tunner card in your machine. That will slow the boot down 20-30 seconds.

Bought motherboard, drive, case, and ram all at microcenter.

I've actually just discovered something too.
I was apparently charged for the 64gig drive but got the 128 gig drive.
So I didn't actually pay for the right drive.

Luckily everything seems to work and I'll not have to return anything or it'd be a problem explaining it.

Yeah we heard this too Franz but how come most of what we get is made in China - I don't remember seeing ever one made in Thailand. Plus 15% of the market is a drop in the ocean when you think about it.

I don't know where the components originated, but I do have drives made in Thailand, but it doesn't really matter where a drive is made, because a shortage in one area is supplemented from another.

Shipping costs customs and tariffs all come into play too.
These are costs that the average consumer doesn't generally think about.

Very often things are made in a specific place because of customs regulations and shipping costs.

...something to think about.

Yeah I suppose you are right but I reckon they still make / produce / manufacture call it what you will a vast majority of the devices in China.

Like the factory in China that has different lines for different companies alongside each other that was quoted by a visiting US businessman who stated that Nokia was alongside Panasonic alongside Sony etc etc in one gigantic hanger like building.

Myself I think the excuse of Thailand is just another way of getting more out of us.
