Thanks z3r010! I followed that link and installed the Akamai downloader but it just errors.... I'll keep trying as it may be just that the servers are getting hammered
The Akamai should actually work pretty smoothly. Just make sure you've closed out the regular MS download manager you would have been trying so they don't bump into each other. Suppose you might have to restart after installing the Akamai or something, too.

All MS is doing is diverting the new heavy downloads to Akamai so the rest of Technet gets freed up for normal use.

lol when are they going to learn! and do you have a BOT that will report any request for links on the forum or something? or you were just keeping an eye on this thread for the moment? :P

also I'm thinking of subscribing, which would be more economical MSDN or technet? what is the difference?

EDIT just checked Technet it's 349$ if your new, wow that's a lot lol

Thanks poin2 - tried a re-boot and obviously stopped the MS DL manager but still no joy.... We are behind a proxy server (which I administer) but unfortunately the tracking function isn't working so difficult to trace my traffic!?!!

I'll just have to leave the MS going for the moment at circa 50-70KB/sec

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll let you know if I find out why it keeps erroring but at work so might have to wait.....

EDIT - ISA 2006 looks like it isn't passing authentication through so got a laptop and getting it through our business broadband connection!! WOO-HOO!!!!

Can I have somebodies MSDN account and password? J/k I have my own. Yeah, I downed 6 versions of Windows 7 last night... And now I'm doing the same at work... It's way more fun to download and install Windows 7 than work...

Anyone have any idea when Server 2008 R2 is going to be released on Technet? Earlier reports stated Win7 and 2008 R2 were going to be released at the same time, but as of yet, no sign of server.....

August 14th. The reason being that they wanted to wait, so as to alleviate the bandwith issues that would arrise from both going live at the same time.

lol, not anymore. Firefox 3.5.2 seems to be having major issues with some websites. This and Gmail being the two I've noticed most.
