Hi Norm, thanks for that.
Microsoft has launched a new "Personalize your PC" website for users testing out the Windows 7 beta. If you're on Windows 7, you can get to it directly from the operating system (Right click desktop > Personalize > Get more themes online). The site currently has 15 themes, 13 desktop backgrounds, 8 desktop gadgets, and 5 SideShow gadgets (only for Windows SideShow-compatible devices). That may not seem like much, but the message at the bottom of the site gives a little hope:Information about Windows 7 is preliminary and subject to change. Themes and wallpapers provided during this beta release are for testing purposes only. A greater selection will be available at the time of final release of Windows 7.
Shawn has just made a tutorial for creating your own theme packs - Theme Pack - Create, Save, Install, and Delete
Thanks. I hope they load up user created themes. I also hope they allow pictures on the taskbar and title bars on Windows 7.
I'd also like to be able to throw some of my own pictures in with these preset slideshow pictures.... hope that's possible somehow.....
It is possible. Just select desktop background on Personalize. Then click browse, then find your pictures folder. Once you select your pictures folder, it will display all your pictures along with the preset slides, now you can select all/deselect all or just pick individual pictures.
I am surprised you didn't know that. I have been using my entire 4GB library of pictures as a desktop backgrounds. They cycle every 10 seconds, and range from car pics, to pics of my family and friends.
Just let me know if you need more help with that feature.
Well..... to be honest..... I've been very lazy this past week.... and I have the flu.
Thanks for letting me know though, I will definitely try this out!
