windows uses swop files over ram, depends on the program.
    look at the mem usage
memory is cheap at present, and designed for high access.

I use a SSD hdd for system and programs and not virtual memory

He's running the 64bit Windows which indicates far less if any swapping out to the drive to begin with. The 64bit OS loads far more data into ram. This is why you will find the 2.5gb recommend for a 64bit version over a 2gb rec for the 32bit.

"If the drive fails"? you'll simply get another one? I rarely see any drives fail except some of the sata dvd burners. Had a few of those take a nose dive and went back to ide 22x still being better made it seems.

"Extra drive space needed on C" for Photoshop sounds a bit familiar here only for other things and why a 1tb host drive was originally decided on for this build. Besides practicality durability is another factor when going to build a new case here.

Despite having seen SSDs appear back in the 90s the newer start up manufacturers often with the lower quality of mechanical drives have picked up on the SSD market while a few like OCZ are in there as well. The leading companies like Seagate and WD seem to have been slow in that direction still keeping focus on their lines of mechanical drives instead.

If the prices for a 1tb capacity SSD were down and the reliability overall not put into question I would have likely already seen one or two in use here for the OS drives. As for data recovery being another concern not too many services quite yet are ready for them while the Golden rule that still applies is backing up the backups and why there a pair of internal storage as well as one external HD in use here.
