I'm happy for you, it would be nice though if they put a bit more effort into getting the original deal to people who cannot get it.
UK ISP BT have announced free upgrade on their FTTC package. Double your existing down + up speeds. Story in The Register -
BT fattens fibre customer pipes for free - with a contract extension ? The Register
just ordered mine online with ETA 1 week.

I would love to just be able to get it.
According to their availability map, my part of Peterborough is nowhere to be seen, although some parts have got it.
sorry guys - was not bragging.
just information for existing FTTC customers.
My local exchange is still down as no current plans
Openreach - Superfast fibre broadband - Where and when
I realise that Jed, but I just wish BT as a national enterprise would treat all parts of the country as equals.
Fast internet is a necessity these days, not just a plaything, and if BT haven't got the wherewithwal to do the job, the government should step in and get someone else to do it.
They're on about spending £32bn on a new high-speed rail link from London to Birmingham when a high-speed national fibre-optic network would do far more for the economy.
As the old saying goes, you have to speculate to accumulate. :)
according to the openreach engineer that fitted my FTTP, Bt has the ability to roll out even faster speeds up to 1000MB , they hold it back until virgin claim a faster speed then BT just have to open their tap a little more and so on.
the 1000MB speeds are being toyed with as a time share so several people would share the 1000mb speed for so many days and then it would go to the next person and so on until it comes back round to the original customer. not sure i like the idea of that , i would be happy with a permanent 500mb speed
Hi there
What's the point if they "Cap you"and slow you down.
And -- BT have probably the WORST call centre system / customer service in the entire Universe.
I HATE these rediculous "Indian" Call centres (sorry guys if you actually come from that country -- Good cricket and excellent food -- but "Call centres from there -- IT'S a HORRIBLE experience" and the peope on the phones only read from scripts -- so you can never get any SENSIBLE answers -- assuming you can ever get out of "Naviagtion Hell").
Much as the SCOTS seem to hate the ENGLISH -- even foreigners calling say from London -- SKY seems to do a lot better with this stuff and with the Instant Chat line they have from their Livingstone scottish ceentre - it's also going in the right direction.
Indian Call centres aren't long for this planet anymore
Guys in Bangalhore --I'd start looking for other jobs if I were you -- the time for these "Disaster centres " is now UP.
Loads of people in the uk are paying extra for companies that advertise "No Indian Call centres"" or "UK Only call centres".
Don't get me wrong here -- India has a great future -- it's universities etc are great -- but its HORRENDOUS call centre stuff --"Game over guys".
Cheers
