You are missing the message that MS is trying to convey. That picture is the old logo with a curtain hiding the view. The new logo has the curtain pulled back to reveal a new glorious day.

The original Windows 1 logo is better, everything is going backwards, and this doesn't just go for windows.

I wouldn't be surprised. As "smart" as each generation is supposed to be, I think too many things have to be "dumbed" down now.

I seriously doubt this logo will be on the finished product...period.
Peruse the Vista Forum archives for all the guesses of what Win7's logo would be...not even close.
