Windows 7: "Windows 8 Survey: Half Who Have Tried the OS Wouldn't Recommend It"

Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8.1 Pro,

Honestly it took me about a week to get use to it, now that I'm use to it I can't go back to 7.

You can't get use to it after a few minutes of use. It takes closer to a week, after that the advantages are more obvious and the Metro screen becomes your friend.

It would only take a couple of classic desktop option buttons to appease the masses on the UI.

There are too many improvements to the desktop environment to list here over Windows 7.
I must be in the half that recommends it.

As I have posted before this operating system should be sold at Toys R Us only.

Given the amount of times I've seen seasoned windows users say they had to google to find how to shut it down I really hope that it reacts well to having the power pulled because that's what most of the public will end up doing.

Won't Go There

Looks as if I am going to be with Win 7 for awhile. I have no interest in poking my screen with greasy fingers nor would I entrust my data to someone else's server. There is already enough info about me on the web. Please no more!

z3r010 said it best. I quote --- "I was pretty disappointed when I loaded it up to find it was Windows 8 server kindergarten edition."

It appears to me to be directed to users that have no tech knowledge and not interested in acquiring any.

I could see using it on a tablet. But on a PC, no way. I don't mind change, but a completely radical transformation like this is a little too much.
The only out in this is if there are completely different styles based on device. Not likely, but that kind of flexibility would help immensely.

Apple must be rubbing their hands in glee at the thought of hordes of disgruntled ex-Windows users migrating to the iMac and OS X Lion.

Well, I for one won't. I'd rather stick to my trusty old Windows 7.

On a side note however, I didn't try it for more than 10 minutes. I guess it will just take some time to getting accustomed to. I for one support change for the better. I guess a week's time should be more than enough. I will be doing this when I consider getting Windows 8 when it's available.

I really wish I had a tablet to test run this on. Its a PITA to run on a desktop, or laptop even. For me it is anyway, and I'm not really interested in spending weeks learning to get around with a keyboard and mouse. There was a definite WOW factor when I first tried Windows 7, I'm not getting that with Windows 8 at all.

I expressed at an earlier date that no-one will buy it! Windows 8 is a disaster waiting to happen.
1st Windows 7 is that good.
2nd No-one will fork out for a touch screen as well as buying an upgrade disc.
3rd It looks awful!
4th It looks like it has some real problems to overcome.
5ive Until everyone already has a touch screen there is no point in bringing out a touch screen OS.

If I was MS I would not put it out on sale as it won't bring back the cost of putting it on sale....
Well that's my penny's worth!

BTW because no-one is able to pirate download anymore, because of this not many will want to purchase a new computer let alone buy Windows 8.

Changing the "minimize" "maximize" and "close" buttons of a theme
Ok so I'm using a custom visual style made by another user however I don't really like the buttons used that I mentioned above. The creator states it is acceptable to change the theme to however you like as long as you don't redistribute it anywhere. Ok so I opened up the .msstyles file (using...

BSOD every few hours: mostly "STOP: 0x00000F4", "c00021a" & "c0000135"
Hi everyone! Yesterday my HP laptop (Windows 7) started getting BSOD with various types of errors (mostly "STOP: 0x00000F4", "STOP: 0x0000007A", "c00021a" and one "missing %hs, c0000135"). Most of the time it restarts without any issues and works fine right after the BSOD and then an hour or two...

How did "one" get changed to "Half-two"?
Just recently something has happened to change things like "one" to "Half-Two"; "there" to "Thor"; "mathematics" to "spelling"; and "Yours" to "Y'all's" or "you're" to "Y'all're". This happens on IE and Firefox and even happens the URL when I attempt to go to a mathematics website. The only thing I...
