what's the use of upgrading OS if your current OS is still functioning properly
New features or if you got a outdated os that's not supported by applications anymore, that's basicly it. Anyways I love the sound of not having to move on untill 2020-2022 around there.Microsoft will most likely have a different better OS that I might have more interest in by then.

I'm not buying it only if Microsoft starts giving touch screen monitors with it as that's the only way you can use it right and to its full potential..have you seen all the new notebooks coming out with windows 8 installed what are they.... touch screen so what dose that tell you about windows 8

At last ! There is only 2-3 versions of Windows 8 !

I hate this 1 milion versions of Windows 7 and Vista. With Starter you cant do anything.
Maybe you can do something with Home Premium and Pro, but that is not so good.
Windows XP have best versions. Only two : Home and Pro. I love this , there is not big difference between these versions. Now , that will be again in Win 8 !

    Thanks for this information.

home premium is pretty much all you need unless your going to be doing stuff with severs then you would go with ultimate and the only difference in pro that i saw that you could use was like to join a domain and this other window which i can't exactly remember atm had to do something with like managing attributes not sure atm. Also that ultimate has bitlocker but that is irrelevant to me since i can just download and use truecrypt as a free alternative that does the same thing. So basically what i'm trying to say that win 7 versions like ultimate and pro have more to do with networking which people who don't really manage a network besides stuff like grouping pcs through home group which works fabulous in win 7 home premium and i have it so everybody can connect to the printer in my room and use it and transfer files in between pcs and the xbox is able to get music from the library and play it through the stream on the xbox. Home Premium imho is really good for what your getting for, especially for my necessities. Ultimate is perfect for managing a small network that involves being connected to a domain and such and enterprise is for really big networks which i got to play around in my tech class since we were learning networking and making domains and administrating them and pretty fun for me since I got to mess with domains and such and making a admin account in our schools domain so I could manage it so our instructor could teach us how to use it and such.

    Hi there.
The feature I'm currently using A LOT (almost 3 times a week) is the Windows to go.

No mention of this in any of the 3 or 4 versions ( Or will it become like "Heinz Baked Beans" -- great stuff but in the early 70's their advertising slogan was "Heinz -- 57 varieties" so we all wondered what would they do if they added another brand " !!).

    Heinz - Trivia

BTW after a stint in the UK I'm addicted to Baked Beans -- obviously in common with loads of others.

    From the Heinz site :

How many cans of baked beans does Heinz sell every day in the U.K. alone?

In the U.K., Beanz Meanz Heinz.

A staggering 1.5 million cans of Heinz Baked Beans are sold every day in the U.K.

    Cheers

    jimbo.
