OK so I have been doing some quick comparisons with SkyDrive.

Both are very similar on the surface however there are differences.

    1. Google Drive has more built-in Apps. 7 compared with SD's 4
    2. Both can edit their built-in document types online, However, if you have office you can edit the synced Office Docs offline also.
    3. The synced Google docs are just URLs to the online documents.
    4. There is an offline viewing option for GD docs but I haven't tried it yet. I guess that this must download an actual document.

Now I've tried the offline viewing. It is somewhat limited.

    1. You can only view Documents and Spreadsheets. The other doc types are not supported (yet).
    2. The synced file is still the same link (a small json file?). I guess that the docs are held in the Chrome cache.
    3. You can only do this with the Chrome browser.

On another point. Although you only get 5GB free any Google documents as opposed to uploaded files do not count towards the 5GB.

having played with them i still find dropbox the most friendly, getting a link for sharing a pic or file is very easy with dropbox, there are more hoops to go through with skydrive and google drive to share a file.
so i use skydrive and google for backing up not sharing and dropbox for sharing ,
mostly i use dropbox for sending images to friends or in vm's and pm's here on the forum.

not had much experience with sharing on Google Drive but on Skydrive it is simple. Just right click on the Folder, picture or file and select share and then get a link on the resulting dialogue.

I'm planning to use both SkyDrive and Google Drive when I'm activated. Skydrive will be for content needed on my computers. Google Drive will be for use with my Android phone and tablet. Mainly for Google Drive, I'm planning to put a bunch of PDF file recipes on it, so I can access them on my tablet in my kitchen.

thats from the online account not the skydrive folder on the pc ?
with dropbox you open the folder on your pc that syncs and right click a file select dropbox / copy public link in the context menu and then paste that wherever you need email vm etc.
