Windows 7: Researchers Use Calculation Errors To Greatly Improve Processor Speed

Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1 and Mac OS X 10.8.3

LSI tried to do this years ago when they wanted to take on ARM chips. The cost would be to high and the amount of time to have a chip to sell would be well over 5 years. I know someone who was on that team and there was a lack of money and understanding of what the market for these chips would be since OS today can not rely of this type of calculations. Hence why they abandoned the project.

That would suggest it would never become cost effective for the desktop pc market while seeing other applications. There was some hubla about the next version of Windows and ARM chips a few months back but dried up rather fast.
