Considering that Windows 8 really is nothing more than Microsoft Plus for Windows 95/98 but for Windows 7...$14.99 makes sense.

They are going to only pay us $14.99 to use it?

I was hoping it would be enough to pay for my new monitor without touch screen.

Someone needs to read the fine print, that $14.99 might be for factory OEM machines only!

Actually the fine print says, that if you buy Windows 7 today, you can get Windows 8 for just $14.99. Of course, back in the day when we went from XP to Vista and then Vista to 7...they gave you the next version for FREE...but with Windows 8 they are trying to get $14.99

@pparks1

That's good to know, but I'll just hang onto my $14.99.

But it is the Pro version...

^ With Vista, if you bought a copy of Vista during a specific timeframe, you got the same version of Windows 7 for free. So, Vista Home Premium got free upgrade to 7 Home Premium, and Vista 7 Ultimate got free upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate.

I'd save my $14.99 too. Spend it on something useful, like lunch.

Build your own system and solve the problem! New board will still be supporting 7 for some time yet! You won't see XP updates for most of the new ones however since that is now too old. I'll be trying to keep this or the next build going as long as I can just to keep 7 alive here!

When powering up in the RP today I went to reorganize the Start screen when removing some obsolete items for the stuff I pinned there and the squares smeared when moved! Graphical anomalties for sure and I said "Forget it! Boot into 7! where I now everything works!"
