Alan Turing's remains are currently revolving at around 10,000 RPM.

The rich are getting richer, using the Internet and putting nothing back.

Is it not enough that our politicians (of all nations) have so little understanding of the net, that they think they can control it, and eventually tax it?

What began as the greatest expression of freedom in communication between peoples, is now under threat.
Hiyya Bertison mate they tax us already and some - when I lived in the UK there was VAT - we have what is called GST - much the same - so FWIW in my mind both are imposing a tax by "proxy" on our use of the net cos GST is included in my bill every month come hell or high water.

As for the rich mate the gap between have and have nots is getting wider and wider and if we think we have seen the worst of it I reckon this is just the tip of the berg. Plus there isn't a thing you can do about it I share mine around as best I can but one doesn't have to look far to see what you and yours are never going to have form the comfort of your lounge - the TV is only a remote away .

Well it was bound to happen was it not? Only so many name based .COM addresses available. What would the alternative be? Hexadecimal strings?

Aside from the big fight among the moneyed power brokers what would the impact ne on the average user?

Hiyya Muad Mate I am glad someone knows what they are talking about cos I got lost about 300 posts ago LOL!!

In my simplish mind what can be done electronically is really only going to be governed by the size of an electron and if it all comes down to what they are particles or a waveform or both - whichever theory one wants to subscribe to then what is going to happen is infinite - just about.

Like I said I am just your average Joe Blow and it just seems every time you turn around there is another layer of technology on top of the one - one is using. Very confusing and no wonder I get lost

yes, but now *.con would retrieve a valid url that may be owned by a phisher.
But aren't phishers already capitalizing on typos, e.g. www.amazom.com?

Sorry but the rich give back more than lazy occupiers that want to sit around and have it handed to em. The rich pay taxes and employ people. Most rich people are rich because they made good decisions and showed initiative. The lazy socialists want the govt to make everyone equal so they can sit around on their lazy asses and contribute nothing back to society but bitching and whining about the rich.
I would like to know which planet you are currently occupying, fella!

Here on Planet UK, we have the kind of Rich who avoid tax as much as possible.
The kind of Rich who were so good at managing our banking system, that we now have a national debt best described as (AAAAAAAAARGGGGGHHHHH!!!!)
The kind of Rich who think that listening to private phone calls and using the result to sell media space, is perfectly OK.
The kind of Rich financial bosses, who are rewarded for being useless at their jobs, by using shareholder's profits to pump up their exorbitant bonuses.
The kind of Rich, whose attitude to business, is to sack more employees if the profits go south.

Socialists are lazy, are they? Tell that to my grandfather, a founder-member of the Independent Labour Party. He fought all his life to get a better deal for Pottery workers in Staffordshire, who were dying of pneumosilicosis due to china clay dust and no air filters in the factories. Or my big brother, who fought all his life for better wages for coal miners.

And before you ask, I am NOT a Socialist. Those battles have been fought and lost.

    What is/was your work, bigcitycat?

Well, they will just be additional entries to that hosts file, spam list, etc, right?

Maybe whitelisting may finally be an option?

Planet FoxNews right here in good ol' US of A. Incidentally owned by Murdoch and family. The same ones that thought it was Ok to hack into Great Britain's leader's phones and blackmail/extort them. He has pictures of Glen Beck and Sean Hannity that he kisses every night after saying his prayers to Dick Cheney.

FYI Bigcity: Atlas Shrugged is NOT a bible... and you would not vote for Ronald Reagan if he came back from his grave because he was a moderate.

Now drink a glass of warm milk with your valium and chill...
