Just when you think you have....

Hey just when you think you have seen it all this pops up with IVp6 looming as well.

Now I am no expert and quite frankly stuff like this makes one wonder what is going on and how are the security apps / suites going to cope with all this new stuff?

People will have to be more careful about the last part of the domain name instead of assuming .com, that's about the size of it. I don't quite see the big deal here. Wouldn't "xxx.company" be more specific rather than guessing which extension is the real deal: "company.com" or "company.net" or "company.whatever"?

Yeah T I being just computer literate thought it is becoming even more confusing.

I agree with the last part of your post too just seems there are some making squillions out of making up what seems to my simple um brain a nonsensical system of finding Freds fish shop for example.

Personally I have made many mistakes when accessing UK sites as they use a lot of .co that is just about the same as the usual .com. FWIW why not make them all .com? Having said that I do like the .uk or .au so I know where I am

One reason for this is, allegedly, all possible combinations for the .com domain have been exhausted. The .net and others are quickly being used up to along with all possible IP addresses. The proliferation of (my opinion) of silly devices, iPhone, Android, tablets, etc have used them up fast. IPv6 will add gazillions of new possible IP addresses, so every person and their dofs could have access to 1000's of them.

Couldn't agree more mate my own son has given up the real stuff for toys - sadly.

Personally the hype over those wretched things is becoming very annoying even Stephen Fry who I consider to be one of the world greatest living minds has got into them

Alan Turing's remains are currently revolving at around 10,000 RPM.

The rich are getting richer, using the Internet and putting nothing back.

Is it not enough that our politicians (of all nations) have so little understanding of the net, that they think they can control it, and eventually tax it?

What began as the greatest expression of freedom in communication between peoples, is now under threat.

Sorry but the rich give back more than lazy occupiers that want to sit around and have it handed to em. The rich pay taxes and employ people. Most rich people are rich because they made good decisions and showed initiative. The lazy socialists want the govt to make everyone equal so they can sit around on their lazy asses and contribute nothing back to society but bitching and whining about the rich.
