Do your computers have no Antivirus?
MSE. Though my parents have Macafee, and I don't think it registers that either.

I do run a dedicated file server box at home that houses all of my "data". It's got a pair of drives that are synced every few hours to each other. Then about once per week, they are moved onto external hard drives and moved off site.

As far as my desktops go, they are easy enough to just reinstall the OS on and the handful of apps that I use. And with Win7 having a nice system image available, I can easily use that to get back to my OS and base drivers very quickly.

Thus, I just haven't had the need for the functionality of Windows Home Server....and my current file server runs a free no cost to maintain that.
I am also running a dedicated file server dual purposed as a domain controller. I am using Active Directory to manage my environment. I do this mostly for testing and to reinforce the type of work I do.
It's nice to manage my family accounts in one location and for then to have the ability to login with the same account on any of our systems.

Windows home server vs Server 2008 R2
I'm trying to decide between Windows Home Server and Windows Server 2008 R2 for my home server PC. Ordinarily it would be a clear cut choice, but I've got a free copy of Server 2008 R2 through my academic MSDN subscription. I'd like to avoid spending extra money if Server 2008 R2 would do the job....
