As well as the obvious different subscriptions which will effect the available keys. there is also I believe regional differences so that numbers of keys in a subscription in the US may differ to that available with the same subscription taken out in Asia, for example | My System Specs |

Hi there
@barman
European subscription TechNet Pro ----> Enterprise versions 1 VL key (Multiple activation usually 500 or more)
Non Enterprise versions including servers 3 keys activatable 10 times or so).
Existing keys for older products --- will say you have claimed n out of 0 keys. These keys you've claimed will still work and you can find links to the actual products by following links My Keys where you can still get Windows 7 Home premium etc etc.
New Subscribers -- product will still function even if subscription expires - but your license to use the product has been "revoked".
Previous subscribers (before mid july 2012) you can still use products even if subscription lapses - but in all cases software is for EVALUATION and TESTING purposes -- it's not intended to be a cheap way of licensing your entire Family's set of computers - which is why the use became more restrictive in the first place.
Cheers

Unlike Windows 7 where there was a button to change the product key, Windows 8 doesn't have that option.
Open an elevated command prompt and run
slmgr.vbs -ipk "Your key"
Then, you will be able to activate your key. I could not find the vbs file named slmgr.vbs anywhere on my disk or the dvd that Installed the enterprise version from.
what am I doing wrong?
In the meantime, I downloaded and installed the pro version but of course it does not include any multimedia at all. Kind of a come on for more money to have video and sound.
Rich
Added later, Success after copyingteh slmgr.vbs file to a USB stick and then activating afterwards. thanks pparks1

Rich Pro comes with Windows Media Player. It just does not have a codex to play DVD's.

Media centre is due to be a free d/l for pro and enterprise, shortly, definitely will be available ny public release in october.
This follows normal procedures for business versions, though it is normally only games that need adding. Of course it does make sense with the bundling rows that caused the N versions.
Personally as long as VLC works I may not bother to d/l | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Real World Computing (Me + a little help from Acer) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + x86 + Windows 8 x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6 GHz Motherboard Aspire M3400 Memory 4Gb PC10600 DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 315 512MB Sound Card OnBoard - Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Philips 32" HDTV, (HDMI) + 26" TV (VGA) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @60Hz + 1360 x 768 @60Hz Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) Mouse Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) PSU Stock (400W) Case Acer M3400 Cooling Stock Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate ST3500418AS SATA II
