Bad Rumor on Windows Weekly 272 | TWiT.TV Mary Jo stated that TechNet would get a trial version for Windows 8 RTM and then Paul chimed in and said an OEM partner sent him an e-mail stated that it would be ONE license to install and activate on ONE PC and it would be locked to that PC. He than stated the same key could be used to install Win 8 on other PC's but would not activate. You will need a key just to get it to install. Its around the 15:40 mark on the video.
I guess we will have to wait for next week to see how this plays out.

With all the bad publicity surrounding W8 these seems like a totally NONSENSICAL decision if it's true.
Why then would people ever bother with TechNet anymore if they can downlaod the stuff as a trial from the MS site anyway.
Seems like CEO's world wide never understand "Real Life".

I was just about to pull the trigger on a new sub (I let my previous sub lapse) until I read the new terms. I'll just wait for the OEM version to come out and grab a couple.
So, if I renewed on July 7, 2012 (which I actually did), which is prior to July 16th, does this mean:
- All of my keys requested after July 16 do not expire regardless of subscription renewal?
- Do I still get (2) keys that can be reinstalled at will?
- Which of the other changes pertain to me?
As usual this is as clear as mud with Microsoft being intentionally vague. It says to read the new contract but I couldn't even find where these details where discussed in the new contract.
But I don't think the part about requiring an active subscription is rumor. The real issue is what exactly happens when you expire? Sounds like your unactivated keys are dead. Its possible that your activated keys may not reinstall and even possible that the installed keys become deactivated?
can anyone share the hashes of the MSDN x64 ISO .... i wanna be sure that the leaked version is the real deal as i'm looking forward to try it .
