Code name "Blue" for the next version of windows leads me to believe that some how this OS is going to be cloud based. With the release of windows 8 and it getting the so called metro look...would only stand to reason that MS is leaning heavily in this direction. Along with the revamped hot mail and live mail moving to outlook.com with the same look and feel as windows 8.

Well, I have no interest whatsoever in the 'cloud' so it doesn't sound as though it'd be much use to me, if that's the case.

A cloud based computer simply wouldn't work for me. I live out in the country, where internet service isn't the greatest and if operating my computer(s) depended on it, they wouldn't be usable.

    Describes me perfectly!

The more control of your personal data you relinquish to "The Cloud" the more dangerous it is.

Can't help but think "code blue" is a last ditch attemp to resuscitate the Windows 8 patient.

Describes me too! I live in rural Lincolnshire, country dwellers everywhere get the worst deal with Broadband. I would not move, though. I would wither and die in town.

Recently had a long telecon with my ISP, patient & courteous Tech Support managed to FINALLY stabilise my line at around 2.5 to 2.7 MB. I was trying to work BBand with dial-up speeds.

If 8 is a step too far, looks like 9 might be a "Giant Leap!"

Cloud is blue sky thinking gone mad. I hope I'm wrong, but I see all kinds of mega disaters for this technology.

If Microsoft does decide to go with only a cloud based operating system, I will forced to make the switch to a Linux distro that does support the desktop environment. I have stayed with Windows up until now simply because I am more comfortable with it, but I guess this "old dog" will simply have to learn new tricks.
