So far the best site I found is this. It mentions Framework 4.5. I have done nothing other than look. I would like your opinion. Is this a Beta Power Shell?

    Installing Windows PowerShell
When I right click on MSU there is not a option to run as admin.
Just for S&G I might try installing the x86 version. I will wait for your opinion.
For sure I have waisted to much of your time for such a foolish thing.
I do thank you for your concern and help.

My mistake: the msu file does not offer the install as admin option.

Do not install the x86 version. you have an x64 architecture and os.

the best site, which is current and correct, is given in the link from post #1.

    Did you google
Windows update could not be installed because of error 2149842967

    Black computer, (problem computer)
Remove Net Framework 4 Client Profile and reinstalled it with all updates. No help.
Checked Silver computer and noticed not only did I have Net Framework 4 Client Profile I also had Net Framework 4 Extended.
Download and installed Power Shell 3.0 installed and update with no problems. Went back to Black computer downloaded and installed Net Framework 4 Extended and all updates. Rebooted and installed Power Shell 3.0 and it's updates; Rebooted. I now have Power Shell on both computers working. I found zero information on line to do this. I spent hours looking.
THANKS Karl for all your time and help.

And many thanks for the feedback.

Was the "extended' not included in that link for downloading PS 3.0?

I'm trying to determine whether I need to change any of my notes, etc and whether to contact the powershell team.

    thanks,
    karl

Not that I seen then or now. dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe 869 KB did not help.
This is where I got it.
Download: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Standalone Installer) - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details
    It's 51.9 mb.

the only apparent difference is that the link I gave has the link for the web installer for 4.0. I used that link and all went well. You used the link for the standalone installer for 4.0
