    DreamSpark changes (students-check this out)

Improvements to DreamSpark and FREE store access for Windows 8 student developers - Microsoft UK Faculty Connection - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

MS has separated the Dreamspark into two branches: one for students and one for academic institutions.

For those unfamiliar with DreamSpark who are attending univesity (or institution of higher learning), then you will find that there is much MS software availiable to you free.

I'm going to college (doing business), so will I still be able to gain the benefits of Dream Spark?

In case, your wondering why I'm doing business it's for two reasons:

    1) The IT course was full
    2) Want a mixture of qualifications and skills for future employment

The website came up with my college, but then got this error message (see screenshot):

Guessing I'm not entitled to the scheme.

Doubtful. More likely that you had a connection failure.

You could talk with the IT department at your school and see what you can learn there.
And yes, when dealing with Microsoft info, Internet Explorer works best. I don't like to say such, but that has been my experience.

I don't know about your school, but with mine the school has an account that you access through them giving you access, which you are notified of via email.

I just tried the student dreamspark and all you need is a valid school email, and you can get to the software, it's a bit limited though, servers, visual studio, not as much as you can get through the college.

I believe the college is meant to be providing us with our own college e-mails soon, so hopefully it will work then.

I am in the IT/Networking tract at my school which gives me full access and there is quite a bit of stuff on there. I think it depends on what degree you are in, naturally IT degrees will have a lot more available to them. It is good that students have access to this stuff, some of it has been very useful.
