Hi there
you need to be a bit more suspicious of these types of stats --- While I'm sure the usage of Chrome far exceeds that of IE now isn't this because a HUGE amount of browsing / surfing is done these days with devices like tablets and smartphones.
Once you add Android into the equation this isn't surprising at all (in fact it probably should really be obvious -- please don't take offense here - none intended -- but statistics have an incredible way of being either grossly mis-used -- as per virtually the whole advertising industry -- or wrongly interpreted).
The way these stats are gathered as well are somewhat suspect -- If say a Google lookup is performed does Google actually KNOW whether the query comes from a desktop / tablet / mobile phone --it usually will receive just an IP address -- and secondly it's quite easy for browser ID's to be changed so the browser name won't be reported correctly anyway.
Cheers
jimbo

I believe this is how MS was preventing people from accessing the MS update site, if they were using anything other than IE.
There is a plugin for Firefox that replaces the FF "User-Agent" info with IE "User-Agent" info.
On my networking course (as an exercise) we set MS Forefront TMG to block the Mozilla "User-Agent" from our virtual networks.
A result of user agent spoofing may be that collected
statistics of Web browser usage are inaccurate.

I suspect that most people aren't changing their browser's "User-Agent" though.

I've used all the major browsers over the last few years.
None of them come CLOSE to IE9/10.
IE still suffers unfairly from the IE6/7 lack of security.
There is NOTHING wrong with it.

I was a IE user right up to IE9 which I just couldn't find any love for, so I jumped ship to FF and aint looked back.

I was with IE until they announced they would stop supporting Windows XP. Moved to Chrome, upgraded to W7 and refuse to go back.
OS Windows 7 Professional 64bit
I like FF. Chrome works for me but I'm just used to FF. Never did like IE of any flavor.

Firefox
I can't customise IE9 and it doesn't have NoScript, so it's Firefox "all the way" for me.
I also hate the way that "modern" browsers hide all of the controls.
I like my controls.

I'm surprised Firefox isn't higher than IE. I do use Chrome though. I've used Chrome, Safari, IE, and Firefox and I won't turn back from Chrome.

I use Chrome for all my mobile browsing and now at work i have moved to using it as well since we are still on XP at work and cannot use IE9+. I use IE 9 at home though as my main but with all the mobile browsing now Microsoft is joining the mobile fray too late with IE10. It will be an uphill battle to get IE 10 widely adopted. They will have to make IOS and Android versions as well as the obvious original flavor in Windows 8.
Hell they haven't even previewed it yet for Windows 7 users, which is a major mistake imo when it supposedly comes out at the end of the month. They should have released a public beta for IIE 10 for Windows 7 quite awhile ago

All the major browsers are over rated. Chrome won't load my favorite website very well if at all. Presently I'm using Aurora, Yandex, and Panda Safe.
Frankly I like avoiding Google and Microsoft as much as possible just on the principle of safe guarding my privacy.

Used to use Netscape YEARS ago, then switched to IE3(?).
Switched to Firefox when it introduced tabbed browsing.
Then back to IE8-9-10 (never took to IE6 or 7).
Still use FF for Farce-book etc, IE10 (not Metro) for most
other sites.
