What a horrible move, many people are using 7 and don't want to upgrade to 8.(which in my opinion looks crippled) I assume newer games will still work with dx11.0 though since 11.1 doesnt sound major. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1 CPU intel core 2 duo x64 Memory 4Gb Ram Monitor(s) Displays 1 Screen Resolution 1600x900 Mouse Microsoft Compact Optical Mouse 500 v 2.0 Internet Speed 1MB Other Info Using Opera 11 |

They may drive them away but it won't necessarily be to Windows 8. How about open like some form of Linux. i was using linux for the past two years (explains my inactivity on this forum) and I would keep it if it wasnt for my games,a lot of my apps and visual c++ if WINE runs close to every windows program perfectly im switching back. but i doubt that will happen soon. i will probably have to buy windows 8 this christmas | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1 CPU intel core 2 duo x64 Memory 4Gb Ram Monitor(s) Displays 1 Screen Resolution 1600x900 Mouse Microsoft Compact Optical Mouse 500 v 2.0 Internet Speed 1MB Other Info Using Opera 11 |

At some point the MUST rethink their marketing strategy. If Win8 don't works as they want they will be forced to do so, or everyone will stop upgrading their systems.
MS already has the Vista experience where everyone favored XP, I doubt they want another similar failure, and it seems that 8 is going to be the next Vista. | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Sattelite A665-S6092 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Core i7-740QM Memory 8 GB DDR3 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 330GT Screen Resolution 1366x768 Cooling Coolermaster Notepal U3 notebook cooling pad Hard Drives Samsung 840 SSD 500GB

Microsoft will use every dirty trick in the book to try to get people off of Windows 7 and on to Windows 8. This is just the beginning. So far none of us own a DX 11.1 graphic card, and we still have to see if it is a rare product like ATI's Dx10.1 was, or if it really does matter in later games.
