I wouldn't count on that. With the arrogance Micro$not has been showing its customers lately (my way or highway attitude). I seriously doubt they would cave.
I would not be so sure. If their top 20 customers like big goverments, the EU, VW or Toyota who have hundreds of thousands of PCs threaten them to go Linux, I am sure they will give.

And Linux has come a long way from the old command line system to Mint. Plus they have the advantage of a clear seperation of mobile with Android and the other Linux distros for the PC.

Nice pick-up Greg. Must be handy to throw the board in the back and go to the beach.

Yes, it's great when they get the perfect balance like Windows 7.

My Dad's got a Lexus so have been amazed by it as well.

The only problem these days is that they kill you with electronic gadgets and a gezillion switches plus 2 screens with another gezillion settings. Half of the time the car controls the driving - not you.

I once worked for a Multi National Company in Indianapolis and they had a special arrangement with M$ as we were using Windows 95 to run special in house software to run a prototype TV and this was years after 95 was discontinued and one of the engineers needed something fixed and M$ did what ever it was with a special patch. I assume it cost the company somewhere but is was most likely cheaper than rewriting the software that ran the TV to work on 2000. We tried 98 and that would not run the program either.
So yes it does happen.

I can't fathom what it would take in hardware, programs and training for a large company or organization to jump from XP to Windows 8. To my 3 brain cells it's beyond comprehension.
