Gmail crumbled for 40 minutes, while Google Chrome browsers crashed almost simultaneously around the world. Despite the timing, the two problems weren't linked. Here's what happened.
Wow....... been super busy, hadn't heard a word about this. I don't use Google or Chrome so wasn't affected the short time I had online yesterday. Actually though...... it sounds kinda scary to me. One of the reasons I don't trust "the cloud" is/was just this sort of thing happening. I know, I know........ I'm in the distinct minority on that subject so I'll just hush.

You are not the only one! I feel the same way about "the cloud".

I was one of those users of Chrome and G mail who was down yesterday.
So I shut my pc off and went to the driving range to chip and putted for an hour.
I am in the same group as those above by not being a Cloud user.

Reading the article Brink referenced, this sounds like a issue that only affected people using Google Sync. As I interpret that people that sync bookmarks, etc. In any case Gmail is still the most dependable free email on the planet.
