Looks like Canadian Students are left out from the saving once again.

Cash-strapped students are now able to pre-order Windows 7 for less than half the £80 price tag, ahead of the operating system’s official release later this month.
Microsoft’s student offer launched yesterday, and UK students with a valid ‘.ac.uk’ email address from their institution can now pre-order Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Professional for £30, while US students with a ‘.edu’ address pay $30.
The firm hopes that students can’t afford to buy a new machine but want to upgrade their system for the new academic year will take advantage of the operating system’s discounted price.
Windows 7 is released on 22 October, while the student deal closes on 3 January 2010.
Really good deal. Windows 7 is well worth £30 without a doubt.

I might have to get in on this, especially since it appears they offer Professional for the same price if you look at the little print.
This is a great deal and I'm thinking about getting it for my computer's that I bought before June. (there are three people in my household with .edu emails)
If you're a (college) student, you can submit your info and they'll add your institution to their qualifying list.
Those with the .edu email addresses simply go through automatically since you pretty much have to be at a college to get one.
And if you don't have a college email because you're not in college, you don't get it. :)
